spritzeFollicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is an important hormone for stimulation of ovaries and is often applied in many standard protocols of an In-vitro-fertilisation. In some special cases, a luteinizing hormone (LH) may be needed. Now both hormones can be genetically produced and correspond to the body-own hormones in their chemical composition.

Human Menopausal Gonadotropins (HmG) is a purified hormone preparation that alongside foreign proteins comprises a definite amount of FSH. It is used for ovarian stimulation mainly in IVF and ICSI as alternative to genetically produced FSH. It is significantly less expensive then genetic FSH and its advantage is that it contains small amounts of LH as well.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is so-called pregnancy hormone, which is available as genetically produced as well as purified preparation obtained from urine. As part of infertility treatment, it is used to trigger ovulation as well as to support the yellow body phase due to its similarity to the LH.

All those medicaments are so-called proteohormones that can be administered as an injection only. Since these preparations are suitable for an under-skin injection, it is possible for almost all patients to make these injections themselves. Various self-injecting systems similar to self-injection of insulin at diabetes are available.
